Antalya Airport is introducing new rules for individual tourist transfers that could lead to longer waiting times for passengers arriving at the Turkish resort destination.
The changes, announced by the Antalya branch of TÜRSAB, Turkey’s Association of Travel Agencies, will take effect from 12 May 2026 and apply to both major tour operators and smaller destination management companies.
Private Transfer Vehicles Removed From Terminal 2 Parking
Under the new system, companies operating private transfers will no longer be allowed to freely park minibuses and VIP transfer vehicles carrying between one and six passengers at Terminal 2.
Instead, those vehicles will be relocated to parking areas at Terminal 1, located approximately 10 to 15 minutes away by car.
International flights in Antalya are currently handled exclusively through Terminal 2.
Tour operator vehicles will use designated levels of the covered Terminal 1 car park, while other transfer companies will be directed to open parking areas.
Tourists Will Need To Wait For Vehicles
Previously, tourists booking private transfers were typically met at the terminal exit and escorted directly to waiting vehicles parked nearby.
From 12 May, arriving passengers will instead be directed to a dedicated meeting area located near the TÜRSAB checkpoint outside Terminal 2.
Representatives will meet passengers using company logos rather than personalised name signs.
After meeting tourists, company representatives will contact drivers waiting at Terminal 1, who must then travel to a designated “green zone” at Terminal 2 for passenger pickup.
According to transfer companies cited in local reports, waiting times are expected to range between 10 and 20 minutes.
Airport Aims To Reduce Parking Congestion
Antalya Airport says the new rules are intended to reduce congestion at Terminal 2 and address what authorities describe as excessive parking usage by private transfer vehicles.
Airport officials estimate that private transfer cars currently occupy around 47% of available parking capacity.
The changes are also expected to target unlicensed private transfer operators working illegally at the airport.
Facilities Planned For Waiting Passengers
According to TÜRSAB, a dedicated waiting area for passengers using private transfers will be introduced outside the terminal.
The airport also plans to provide a free Wi-Fi access point to help tourists communicate with transfer companies and drivers while waiting.
Large coaches operating group transfers for tour operators will not be affected by the new measures and will continue departing directly from Terminal 2.
